About me
My interest in art started in 3rd grade when I won a competition with a drawing of Snoopy. My love of art continued through high school, with most of my classes being in the Art department. After high school I earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Texas State University and then went to hair school at Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy to pursue a career that used my creative passion. My focus on color and shape have transitioned from cut and color in salons into works on canvas. The elements of bright bold colors, an understanding of color theory, and composition blends seamlessly into visual art.
After many years working in my home studio, my career as a full time 2D visual artist began in 2018 with my first public appearance at a local bar and art venue, and since that first exhibition my work has been displayed at Monterosso Gallery, The Silos at Sawyer Yards, the Kinder Morgan Building, East End Gallery, Ecclesia Houston, and Hardy and Nance Studios.
After spending over a decade doing hair and working behind the chair, I now focus my creativity from a different angle. Portrait work allows for investigating the stories told in peoples faces. Working from photos to create portraits of people I find interesting and who’s stories correlate to my own life, it is my intention to foster connection to common themes of human emotions and experiences.
Whether bringing someone's story to life or sharing my own stories through images on canvas, my passion for fostering connection through visual storytelling is what drives my work and makes me excited to wake up in the morning.
